Studio
Designing the
whole of a home.
Design Invested is a residential design studio approaching architecture, interiors, furnishings, and visualization as parts of a single composition.
A Point of View
A house should feel considered before it feels decorated.
The character of a residence begins long before furnishings are selected. Proportion, circulation, architectural detail, natural light, material, and landscape establish the framework upon which everything else depends.
Design Invested approaches these decisions together—allowing architecture and interiors to develop in conversation rather than independently.
The objective is not to reproduce the past, but to understand what made enduring houses successful: their proportions, hierarchy, craftsmanship, restraint, and sense of permanence—and interpret those principles for contemporary life.
Principal
Johnathon Kok
Design begins with understanding the entire house.
Johnathon Kok leads Design Invested with an approach grounded in the relationship between architecture and interiors.
His work considers the residence at multiple scales—from exterior composition, floor planning and architectural detailing to materials, lighting, furnishings and decorative elements.
Three-dimensional modeling and visualization are integrated throughout the process, allowing architectural and interior decisions to be studied together before construction and providing clients with greater clarity about the finished environment.
His work is particularly informed by enduring American and European residential architecture and the belief that new construction can possess the character, proportion and permanence traditionally associated with older homes.
The Approach
One vision, from architecture to interior.
Architecture
Planning, proportion, exterior composition and architectural detailing establish the identity of the residence.
Interiors
Materials, millwork, lighting, furnishings and decoration develop from the architecture rather than being applied after it.
Visualization
Three-dimensional modeling allows major decisions to be understood in context before they become construction commitments.
